Itinerary:

Day 1 We advise everyone arrive into Durban today as we depart at 12.45pm sharp tomorrow and most international flights won't get you into Durban before this time . We recommend booking with the Protea Marriott Hotel Umhlanga. If you choose to stay elsewhere please be sure to meet in the lobby of the Protea Marriott Hotel at 12.30pm tomorrow as we will be leaving at 12.45pm sharp.

Day 2 At 12.45pm we depart from the lobby of the Protea Marriott hotel Umhlanga Rocks on a 3 hour drive for our host safari lodge in Zululand (located 10 minutes from where we run our rhino rescues).

Day 3 Today is a day for exploring more of the Kwa-Zulu Natal region. Activities include:
Morning
1) Join Boat Cruise (3-4hrs): Lake Jozini lies in a dramatic setting at the foot of the Lebombo Mountains and is one of South Africa’s largest dams. There are several exquisite gorges which abound with cycads and a wide variety of birds. On the western side of the dam one might see elephant, rhino, hippo and crocodile.
Afternoon
2) Zulu Cultural Walk: Immerse yourself into the rural community of the Lebombo mountains and enjoy a memorable walk with remarkable views, while learning about rural Zulu customs and living as it is today. This walk is a cultural treat and allows for interaction with the people of the area, as well as gives a greater insight into life in rural Zululand.

Day 4 Rhino Rescue Expedition: Today you will join our Wildlife Management Team bright and early for a rhino dehorning, ear notching and medical check-up procedure. Rhino dehorning has proven to be an effective measure to deter rhino poaching. You will participate in a hands-on experience with rhinos in the wild. You will get up close to wild rhinos whilst assisting the team in collecting DNA samples (hair and blood samples) and taking measurements, all of this contributing to the protection of the species. The procedure is not harmful in any way and our veterinarians and wildlife management team are highly experienced ensuring the welfare of the rhinos during the procedure.

Day 5 Full day safari
